The above 18MB animated GIF was constructed from still images taken at about 45s intervals by a Nikon 950 with a 183-degree fisheye lens. That camera is permanently mounted in the core of KASY0 to serve as a supercomputer webcam, security camera, and remote switch status display. The real elapsed time to label every node, wire the network, and wire uplinks was approximately 5 hours with 3 people working. The slowest aspect of the wiring was literally untwisting and twisting the twist-ties used to neatly coil excess cable length; this could easily have been avoided by using cables of just the right length. We deliberately used longer cables because KASY0 is intended for systems research and thus is likely to be rewired as our research progresses.
